Swimming pool enclosure frames are usually made from aluminium.  Most people would presuppose, then, that a pool enclosure is only available in a “silver”-colored frame, the color that aluminium is thought most frequently to be.  This is not necessarily true so it is worth checking out the frame colors available when you’re choosing your swimming pool enclosure.

While aluminium is produced in a silver color, it can also be anodised.  The process of anodising is used not only to increase corrosion resistance for the frame of your pool enclosure, but it also serves as a method of dyeing the aluminium.  Consequently, there may be a range of frame colors available for you to choose from.

While some people may not be so concerned about the color of their enclosure frame, others may wish to consider what frame color might best match the pool surroundings, or which one that might best assist in creating the ultimate effect when the new enclosure is installed.  Be sure to take into account what plants are growing nearby, as well as any buildings, walls or other structures in viewing range.  For the evening entertainer, any available lighting may also be a consideration.  Most likely, you’ll want the color of your enclosure to complement the total environment you already have around your pool.  And the color of the wall of the swimming pool as well as the color of the polycarbonate you choose for your enclosure all contribute to the final look.

As an example, an enclosure frame in a “champagne” color might serve to add an extra touch of class in some environments.  It may work very well with dark-coloured polycarbonate in an entertainment area, especially one with low-level night lighting.  However, it’s worth taking into account all aspects of the particular surroundings for your enclosure.   Perhaps, on the other hand, when all is taken into account, the traditional “silver” look for your enclosure frame is the most appropriate.

Be free to avail yourself of the options available in swimming pool enclosure colors, and don’t be afraid to obtain an alternative opinion as there’s no such thing as a “wrong” or a “right” opinion.

Any swimming pool open to the atmosphere will lose water through evaporation right throughout the year.  The rate of evaporation will naturally be slower during the colder months and considerably higher during the warmer months and warmer days in any month.  Also, the larger the water surface area of your swimming pool, the greater the amount of water that will evaporate.  And if you have a pool heater operating, the increased temperature of the water in your pool will raise the rate of evaporation no matter what the season of the year.

This results in the need to replenish the water in your swimming pool on an on-going basis with a more frequent need for topping up the water during summer and other warm periods.

And therein lies one of the “hidden” costs of owning a swimming pool – the additional cost of water consumption at your home.

As we become more environmentally-aware as a society, we realise that we need to conserve our water resources as best we canAny steps that we can take as individuals will help our environment, will assist our community to preserve our society’s sources of water, and will reduce our own personal costs of water consumption. A swimming pool enclosure, therefore, is a magnificent way to assist with these aims.

Note that an enclosure doesn’t stop evaporation of water in your swimming pool from happening.  However, when an enclosure is closed it is considerably, though not entirely, sealed and water that evaporates from the swimming pool becomes trapped inside the enclosure.  Much of the evaporated water will condense on the inside of the enclosure and drip off or down the inside of the enclosure and back into the swimming pool.  You therefore retain much of the water level in your pool.

And this has an added benefit that your swimming pool enclosure becomes considerably self-cleaning on the inside.

With a swimming pool enclosure, the overall loss of water from your pool through evaporation is considerably reduced.  And you won’t need to top up the water level of your pool as much nor as frequently as you would without an enclosure.

Save water for the environment and the society!  And get a return on your investment in a swimming pool enclosure by saving on the cost of water consumption!

The term “swimming pool enclosure” formally refers to a structure that totally encases a swimming pool, providing a kind of indoor environment to an otherwise outside pool.

Generally, an enclosure is composed of a metal frame with transparent or translucent panels usually (though not necessarily) in an arch shape stretching the length of the pool.  Most frequently, the enclosure is divided into separate panels each panel running along tracks fixed to the ground.  The enclosure is “closed” when it fully encases the pool, also allowing you to swim in the pool “indoors” beneath the enclosure protected from any wind. Alternatively, the enclosure can be opened by sliding the panels, each independently of the others, along the tracks so that they nest one inside the other at or off the end of the pool, like the layers of an onion skin.  With the enclosure off, the pool effectively becomes totally outdoors.

Principally, a swimming pool enclosure serves to keep the water in a swimming pool cleaner and warmer.  It also reduces the various costs associated with maintaining a swimming pool.
