Swimming pool enclosure frames are usually made from aluminium.  Most people would presuppose, then, that a pool enclosure is only available in a “silver”-colored frame, the color that aluminium is thought most frequently to be.  This is not necessarily true so it is worth checking out the frame colors available when you’re choosing your swimming pool enclosure.

While aluminium is produced in a silver color, it can also be anodised.  The process of anodising is used not only to increase corrosion resistance for the frame of your pool enclosure, but it also serves as a method of dyeing the aluminium.  Consequently, there may be a range of frame colors available for you to choose from.

While some people may not be so concerned about the color of their enclosure frame, others may wish to consider what frame color might best match the pool surroundings, or which one that might best assist in creating the ultimate effect when the new enclosure is installed.  Be sure to take into account what plants are growing nearby, as well as any buildings, walls or other structures in viewing range.  For the evening entertainer, any available lighting may also be a consideration.  Most likely, you’ll want the color of your enclosure to complement the total environment you already have around your pool.  And the color of the wall of the swimming pool as well as the color of the polycarbonate you choose for your enclosure all contribute to the final look.

As an example, an enclosure frame in a “champagne” color might serve to add an extra touch of class in some environments.  It may work very well with dark-coloured polycarbonate in an entertainment area, especially one with low-level night lighting.  However, it’s worth taking into account all aspects of the particular surroundings for your enclosure.   Perhaps, on the other hand, when all is taken into account, the traditional “silver” look for your enclosure frame is the most appropriate.

Be free to avail yourself of the options available in swimming pool enclosure colors, and don’t be afraid to obtain an alternative opinion as there’s no such thing as a “wrong” or a “right” opinion.

Have you ever been for a swim when the wind is blowing and it’s not a particularly warm day?   Depending upon the air temperature and the wind speed, it can sometimes be quite unpleasant.  The wind can spoil so much of your fun.  And you didn’t go swimming to not enjoy it, did you?

“Wind chill factor”
is the term that refers to the effective lowering of your body temperature when the wind meets your exposed skin.  At times, the effect can be that you feel the air is 5 degrees or more colder than it really is. You might feel a loss of your body temperature quite quickly.  And when your skin is wet, the wind chill factor is even greater It doesn’t even have to be a particularly cold day for you to very quickly lose temperature and feel uncomfortable – cold even.  And why would you put up with that when you don’t have to?

A retractable swimming pool enclosure provides a solution to wind chill factor with your home swimming pool as it can shield you from the wind while you’re swimming, and thereby minimise the wind chill effect.
While on many occasions you may prefer to have your retractable pool enclosure open while swimming, there are other times when it’s just perfect to keep the enclosure closed and swim underneath it.  And a windy day provides just that opportunity.  The shield of the polycarbonate covering of your enclosure ensures that the wind and the wind chill factor are just about neutralised.  Not only that but your enclosure still allows any warmth from the sun to penetrate and keep both the water temperature and the air temperature over the pool warmer than it otherwise would be.  Your pool enclosure is not just an adornment to your entertainment area.  It’s also highly practical and versatile.

Swimming is meant to be fun and the wind can sometimes be a dampener on your swimming enjoyment, if you’ll pardon the pun.  But why let that happen when a retractable pool enclosure provides you with such a simple solution?   Shield yourself and your family from the wind with a swimming pool enclosure.  And still you can enjoy your daily swim “inside” – even when the wind is blowing a gale ….”outside”.

Pool heaters are a terrific way to extend your use of your swimming pool during the colder times of the year.  But if you have a swimming pool enclosure, the natural solar heating that flows through your enclosure will help you save on heating costs.  And you won’t need to keep your heater active anywhere near as long.

If your covering of your enclosure is composed of polycarbonate, your enclosure will permit heat energy from the sun’s radiation to penetrate to the inside of the enclosure.  While some of this heat will reflect off the surface of the water and re-exit the enclosure, much of it remains inside and causes the temperature of both the water and the air inside the enclosure to rise The warmer layer of air trapped inside the enclosure above the water assists to keep the water even warmer.  Even as the air outside the enclosure cools at night, the air inside will not drop in temperature anywhere near as much.

Even as the seasons turn beyond summer to the cooler autumn and towards the colder winter, a significantly higher water temperature can be maintained inside your enclosure.  Swimming with your enclosure closed as seasonal temperatures drop allows greater retention of heat.  If, during winter for example, you activate your pool heater, you won’t need to keep the heater on for anywhere near as long to produce the water temperature you desire.  Instead of heat dissipating from the water into the air and getting lost, much of whatever heat dissipates into the air will be retained within the enclosure covering.

Before you purchase your swimming pool enclosure, review the range of polycarbonates available. Different polycarbonates allow differing amounts of heat to penetrate through the enclosure.  Weigh this against the other benefits of each polycarbonate type before you finally settle on the one you want.

With a swimming pool enclosure, you’ll enjoy warmer swimming water for a longer period throughout the year, with or without a pool heater.  Indeed, depending upon the climate where you live, maybe you won’t need a pool heater at all!!!
