There are a wide variety of options available with swimming pool enclosures. Consider all of the options available on a swimming pool enclosure before you finalise your purchase. Indeed, it may be worth considering all of the swimming pool enclosure options available before you even purchase your swimming pool!
One of the possibilities worthy of consideration is that of extending the length of track for your swimming pool enclosure beyond the length of the enclosure when closed. Swimming pool enclosures that connect to, and glide along, tracks are often alternatively termed retractable pool enclosures or telescopic pool enclosures, these terms being used synonymously. Retractable pool enclosures utilise tracks fixed to the ground so that the segments of the enclosure can be moved independently of each other down to one end (or in some cases both ends) of the swimming pool. As a base product, enclosures have a track length the same as the length of the enclosure. This means that, when opening the entire enclosure, the end segment of the enclosure will not be able to recede beyond the position it is in at the end of the pool while the enclosure is closed. With track extensions at one or both ends of your pool, however, you will be able to open your enclosure and move it totally off, and away from, the end of your pool. Track extensions are an option that very much depends upon the space available at either end of your swimming pool. If your pool is in a tight-squeeze position, you may not have sufficient space for this to be an option available to you at all. For example, if you have a wall positioned right at the end of your pool (see the photograph below), you will unlikely be able to take advantage of extended track length. Or perhaps you’ll simply be restrained to a minimal extension of track.
You may be in the situation where you haven’t yet purchased a pool and you’re still at the pool-planning stage. If you have limited end-space for your optimal pool length and you feel you may be able to compromise on the size of your pool, you might wish to weigh up the alternatives of either a longer pool with an enclosure that does not totally recede from the end of the pool or a shorter pool length in order to gain the benefit that track extensions provide. Now is the time to decide between these options rather than wait until you install a longer pool only then to find you no longer have the option to extend the track-length at all.
But if space permits, either with an intended or an existing swimming pool, why not always have the choice when you go for a swim of completely removing your retractable pool enclosure from off the end of the pool? With track extensions, you’ll simply have the choice of easier access from all sides of your swimming pool whenever you want. That’s just convenience all round.
